11/5/2003 - Zoës set to move, alter style
 By Leigh Anne Monitor
Zoe's Kitchen, 1819 Fifth Ave. N., One Federal Place, downtown
As part of an eight-month project, a new Zoe's Kitchen will open Mondayot One Federal Place, replacing the location at 21st Street and 4th Ave. N.
The new restaurant heralds a new style for the Birmingham chicken restaurant chain, featuring striped walls, hanging round globe lighting, lime green tabletops with orange cushion seating and orange chairs. Guests will still order at the counter, but servers will bring the food to tables.
Eventually, all Zoe's Kitchen locations will participate in the new style.
The new restaurant will include 2,600 square feet, compared to 1,600 at the old downtown location. It will seat from 100 to 120 people and include a large outdoor patio with a decorative fountain area.
The menu will add breakfast items: two breakfast burritos, two egg sandwiches, homemade oatmeal with Granny Smith apples, cheese grits and more.
The lunch menu will remain the same: homemade chicken salad, homemade pimento cheese, grilled chicken roll-ups, Greek salads and special slaw featuring feta cheese, among many items.
Breakfast will average $2.50. Lunch averages $6.
Hours will be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. The restaurant will now accept credit cards.
